CreatorsCorp Builds Shell Shocked for Battlefield Portal The First-Ever External Creator Collaboration With EA
Shell Shocked, a custom 4v28 asymmetric holdout experience built inside Battlefield Portal, launched last week to over 80,000 concurrent viewers and more than one million YouTube views, and it was built from scratch in just four weeks.
Developed by Creators Corp in direct collaboration with EA, Shell Shocked is the first Battlefield Portal experience ever created by an external development team working alongside the publisher. The mode was designed around content creator TheBurntPeanut, the 2025 Streamer Awards Best VTuber winner and featured a set of star-studded squads made up of Shroud, HutchMF, Cloakzy, Timthetatman, Officer and Gingy defending against a 28-player defibrillator horde live on stream.
What Is Shell Shocked?
The premise is deceptively simple: four Defenders armed with pistols, claymores, and hand grenades must hold objectives across three distinct sectors while 28 Attackers charge them down with fully charged one-hit defibrillators. Headshots are instant kills. Teamwork is everything. Extraction is never guaranteed.
But the execution is anything but simple. The mode spans three full sectors, from downtown street holdouts, through destroyed office buildings and a skyscraper basement, to a vertical tower escape featuring parkour puzzles and a rooftop extraction, all connected through a dynamic objective progression system. Defenders earn kill streaks that unlock shotguns, SMGs, and LMGs, while struggling players receive comeback mechanics like increased health and melee abilities. An overtime system ensures clutch moments happen naturally on stream.
The game also features a full suite of admin controls, matchmaking toggles, and a step-by-step hosting guide purpose-built so that creators like BurntPeanut, Cloakzy, TimtheTatman, or Officer can run lobbies for their communities without technical friction.
Built at Scale, Built at Speed
What makes Shell Shocked remarkable from a development standpoint is the sheer density of work packed into a four-week production window.
The scene file contains 2,342 custom-placed objects, every spawn node, bridge, barrier, parkour element, and environmental detail hand-built inside the Battlefield Portal editor. The team wrote over 2,500 lines of new custom game logic to power the sector progression, objective capture system, kill streak and death streak mechanics, overtime triggers, HUD callouts, and admin controls.
The speed didn’t stop at launch. Shell Shocked ran as a two-week event, the first stream on March 19th, the second on March 26th, and between sessions the team rolled player feedback into live updates, adding kill streak rewards, death streak comeback mechanics, and tuning changes based on how the first week played. That kind of rapid iteration on a Portal experience, shipping meaningful new features inside a one-week window, is largely unheard of in the Battlefield modding space.
Launch Day Results
Shell Shocked launched alongside a BurntPeanut livestream event that drew creators from across the FPS community.
By the numbers:
- 80,000+ peak concurrent viewers across participating streams
- 1M+ views on BurntPeanut’s YouTube VOD
- 1M+ views on the gameplay trailer
- Millions of social impressions across platforms including coverage from Jake Sucky (see tweet), and the official Battlefield social channels
The Battlefield official account promoted the mode directly, marking a significant milestone for creator-built Portal content receiving first-party support.
Viewer sentiment was high and his fans loved it.

A New Model for Battlefield Portal
Shell Shocked represents a proof of concept for external studios collaborating with EA on Battlefield Portal content. The project demonstrated that a team outside of EA can scope, design, develop, playtest, and ship a polished Portal experience on a tight timeline, complete with custom HUD elements, gameplay trailers, key art, and creator hosting documentation.
For Creators Corp, this project extends the studio’s track record of building creator-driven gaming experiences. The studio, a Webby Award winner and Game Awards nominee, has previously delivered projects with Meta, Dude Perfect, Coachella, the US Open, Steph Curry, Bugha, Poppi, and Clix, accumulating over 60 million plays across 25+ games.
Shell Shocked is now live and playable in Battlefield Portal.
